What are acoustic doors?
Designed to meet a broad array of applications and acoustic requirements, an acoustic door is designed to prevent noise from escaping or entering a room. Exposure to sound is governed by Approved Document E which outlines the parameters of sound insulation requirements and The Control of Noise at Work Regulations which relates to the workplace.
Where can you use an acoustic door?
Acoustic doors are, in appearance a normal door and can often be found in places such as
- Manufacturing facilities
- Cinemas
- Bars/restaurants
- Conference rooms
- Music rooms
- Offices
Most of these environments can register higher decibel levels or need to prevent noise from disrupting those inside.
Why use an acoustic door?
There are a number of reasons why you would use an acoustic door including:
Noise reduction – In an environment where it is necessary to prevent sound travelling, such as an office adjacent to a manufacturing area, an acoustic door can help to achieve specific regulations.
Privacy – Acoustic doors can also be used in healthcare facilities, offices or meeting rooms to provide the necessary privacy as interactions are confined to the appropriate space. In a setting with large open spaces, such as an office, using a clear glass acoustic door can help maintain openness while keeping conversations private.
Security – Using an acoustic steel security door not only reduces noise levels but also provides security reassurance. Our, acoustic rating, bespoke as standard Defender Soundguard steel doors are manufactured with 1.5mm galvanised steel door skins and 2mm galvanised steel frames.
